The Sciliar Area
The Sciliar - unmistakable symbol of South Tyro
From Paalhof you have a direct view of the imposing mountains: the Sciliar - a bizarrely shaped mountain massif and unmistakable symbol of South Tyrol. The Sciliar Mountain provides the name of the sunny alpine plateau comprising the villages Castelrotto, Siusi and Fiè, and the largest and probably most beautiful alpine pasture in Europe, the Alpe di Siusi pasture with 57 km².
The special charm of the hometown of the famous music band, the Kastelruther Spatzen, is provided by the variety of natural beauty, the living traditions, and the character of the inhabitants – cosmopolitans, attached to their native soil, open-minded and sometimes also stubborn, witty and traditional.
Here you can experience the nature of the Dolomites in all its facets. Whether it is hiking, cycling, horse-riding or golfing in summer, skiing, cross-country skiing or snow-shoe hiking in winter: even couch potatoes will want to participate in these outdoor activities.
